BookS by James Hillman"Dream Animals"Hillman joins with artist Margot McLean for a psychological treatment of animals as they appear in our dreams, emotions, thoughts, and the "dayworld" of awake life. Each chapter begins with a painting followed by Hillman's comments that reflect upon his standpoint that animal imagery is independent from our human wants and desires. I suggest that Hillman's edginess relates to his contention that Western society has lost an appreciation or sense of both the autonomy and independence of these images.
